Why it could be important to read and strive to do things

It seems to me that time is quite short. Years pass faster than comfortable, and in the rush of the present, amidst perpetual uncertainty, one has two choices - to doubt or to believe, to dream or to despair, to make a constant effort towards any direction, or to remain frozen.

Given the pattern of the Universe of preference for action, energy, motion, even if at an extremely slow pace, I would say, it is healthier and thus better to read than not to read, it is better to think than not to think, it is better to do than not to do, it is better to want than not to want, as long as none of those things harm others, otherwise actions could be too vague and too dangerous.

A lack of mental exercise could lead to a withering of the psyche, as it would keep us stuck in repetitive routines, where we only speak the same words and think the same thoughts, over and over again. Not to say that some things are to be forsaken or temporary, on the contrary, I do consider that some concepts are eternal, and always to be treasured and protected, but we can still be in motion by attempting to deepen our understanding and experience of those concepts.

Sometimes our standards can be too scary, they demand too much from the start, consequently forcing procrastination. It is better to read half a page than no book at all. It is better to work out in an amateurish way for 20 minutes daily than not at all. It is better to have one subject to wonder and speak about, than no subject at all. Rather than striving to be happy, perhaps look for small things that would make one less miserable. And this is totally not my idea, but one I have heard over and over. And it seems that extremely small steps build energy for bigger ones. They somehow feed and strengthen the psyche.
